Dear B2B Families,

Our weekend excursion was a total success. We traveled in a sweet van up to the White Mountains for some unbelievably serene hikes and good times. We arrived at our campground in the Apache Reservation Friday afternoon and set up a cozy camp. The weather was cool and calm, however, it rained a little soon after setting up our tents. The first night’s bonfire was filled with big laughs and honest conversation, followed by great sleep under a beautiful blanket of stars.

Saturday morning, we cooked up some bomba-llama breakfast burritos; eggs, bacon and hash browns. After some good eats, we headed down to Thompson Creek for an absolutely gorgeous 6-mile hike through the naturally crafted fields of grass and flowers. Once the hike was over, we headed back to camp for some food and camp games. We still had a good amount of extra time on our hands, so we headed over to a local reservoir. There we found fresh, naturally occurring raspberries and boy were they good. Afterwards, we made our way to Sunrise Ski Resort to check out the summer vibes. There just so happened to be a volleyball court set up in the grass, so we ran a pretty exciting game. Once we had our fill, we cooked up some delicious carnitas burritos.

Later that night we drove into Springerville to attend a local open AA meeting. The locals there were thrilled to have fresh faces in their group, and we were more than happy to be there sharing with them. The meeting ended at 8pm and we were on our way back to camp for another brotherly bonfire and big zzz’s.

Sunday morning arrived and we were excited for yet another hike. This time we went up Baldy Mountain to see the wide-open views atop the highest points we could find. Although it was a tougher hike, with an increase of elevation of about 1500 ft. and a little over 6 miles round trip, it paid off huge with views as far as the eye could see. Whooped is an understatement, yet our moods stayed undeterred. We hit up Big Lake Reservoir to kill some time and made a competition of skipping rocks while our group leader tried their luck fishing to no avail.

With rumbling tummies and a thirst for another fire, we headed back to camp. There we whipped up some homemade Philly cheesesteaks with onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. After our last triumphant day, we were ready to hit the hay. Sunday’s night sky was cloudless and filled to the brim with more stars than imaginable.

Monday morning, we awoke at around 6am to fresh coffee and breakfast, all prepared by our wonderful guide. After packing up our gear, we were back on the road to our place in Flagstaff. The drive itself was thoroughly entertaining with even more sights to see and jokes to crack. We arrived back at the residence with new lifelong memories and connections made. Another awesomely fulfilling trip in the book we call life. Can’t wait for the next one!

Love,
The B2B Boys
