Dear B2B Families,

This weekend, in order to beat the heat, we needed a trip with some nice cold water to swim in. Luckily, our guides knew just the spot. Just about an hours drive outside of Flagstaff is a deep, man-made lake known as the Blue Ridge Reservoir. The plan was to paddle board with our backpacks and camp on the lake.

On Friday, after our last group meeting of the week, we rented the paddle boards, packed the van, and hit the road. The sun was out in full force as we arrived at the lake. Most of us had not had much experience on paddle boards, but surprisingly, we all got the hang of it pretty quick. Our first camp site was only about 3 miles up the lake. When we got to the campsite, we quickly unpacked and immediately hopped back in the water to swim and jump off cliffs. That evening, we made dinner and opened up the AA Big Book to run a meeting.

The next day, we decided not to move our campsite, since it was such a great spot. Instead, we spent the day paddling around more areas of the lake, swimming, fishing, and jumping off as many cliffs as we could climb. This weekend was a special weekend, because this was one client’s last trip. Don’t worry, he didn’t get kicked out. He completed his time here well and has made a lot of progress. On Saturday evening, during our meeting at camp, he shared a detailed story of his personal experience with addiction and alcoholism. It was a great send off to his time at B2B.

On Sunday, after spending the morning swimming and lying in the sun, we packed up camp and paddled back to the van. Once we got back to the house, we cooked dinner then went to an AA meeting in town. As always, it was another great weekend for the group. Lastly, as a group, we would all like to say thank you for your support during our time here. There are many ups and downs in treatment. Thanks for hanging in there.

Love,
The B2B Boys
