Dear B2B Families,
This weekend we travelled to The Salome Creek Wilderness trail where we backpacked for three days. However, before we departed on this journey we did our weekly end of review where we track our progress for the week, but also set goals for the weekend. The drive to the trail on Friday took about four hours to complete and once we arrived we conducted a night hike to our first camp site. Upon arrival, we set up our sleeping arrangements then proceeded to start a fire. We then ran an AA topic meeting regarding why each of us want to be sober and what our primary reasons are for attending B2B. Most of us stayed around the fire late into the night while others slinked away to their hammocks near the creek early on.

The following morning we packed up all of our possessions and began our hike to the second campsite of the trail. All in all the second hike was only about two miles, but the creek initially prevented us from following the trail. Due to this impasse we were forced to take a longer, more difficult route that caused the hike to take three hours rather than the expected single hour. Although we tried to avoid the rushing water, we still ended up having to cross the river numerous times to reach our destination. Despite the inconvenience of this obstacle it was an incredibly enjoyable challenge to overcome. Once we arrived at our campsite we all basked in the sun we have been deprived of in Flagstaff recently and dried our clothes. Following this period of leisure we all shared on both our most toxic and most healthy relationships throughout our life. This activity is called “Sharing is Caring” or SIC for short. For the remainder of the day we indulged in card games, stove cooked meals, and raconteuring. To end the night we set fire to drift wood and ran an AA meeting on the topic of our respective higher powers, what they mean to us, and how we see them in our lives.

On Sunday we began our five mile hike out of the trail. Much like before we had to cross the creek numerous times in order to reach our destination. However, we were able to navigate the trail in a way where we did not have to traverse difficult terrain in order to reach the initial three mile portion of the hike. This difference in navigation allowed us to complete the five miles in a total of three hours. Once we returned to the vans we began the long drive back to Flagstaff. After arriving back to the house we all groomed ourselves and were treated to Panda Express. We spent the rest of the night speaking with one another and watching television.

As I write this, it is Monday morning. Earlier we ran our community group where we voice comments, confessions, feedback, and affirmations for ourselves and one another. It was a very smooth weekend so the group was very amicable.

Love,
The B2B Boys
