Dear families,
This weekend we drove down to Mt Lemmon ( East of Tucson ) and did a base camp. Friday we spent the majority of the day driving, got there around 8PM, set up camp and cooked tamales for dinner. Saturday morning we got up fairly early, made eggs and sausage links for breakfast, then drove about an hour and a half up an extremely bumpy mountain road (very slowly) to hike Sky Island Loop, which was a 4.4 mile hike. We were split up into 2 groups, started on opposite sides of the loop and met up in the middle. We stopped about halfway through the hike to eat our sandwiches we had packed for lunch. Then we drove back to camp. had a meeting, cooked fajitas for dinner, threw the football and frisbee, and hung around the fire until we went to bed for the night. Sunday Morning we got up even earlier, made pancakes and bacon for breakfast, then drove about an hour (up the same bumpy road) to hike the Crystal Spring Trail, we split up into 2 groups again, hiked about 3.5 miles in and 7 miles round trip where we stopped and did sharing is caring. After this we started hiking back to the vans and stopped again to have an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting by a nice stream that was flowing down the mountain side. Then we went back to camp, had an Easter egg hunt, made hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner. After the sun had set we did our community group around a fire before going to bed. Monday we woke up bright and early at 5AM. We cleaned up camp, packed all of our gear into the van, drank hot cocoa that staff had provided for us and made the drive back to Flagstaff. Another wonderful trip for the boys.
Tell Next time.
