Friday night we were lucky to have the opportunity to go see a hockey game where one of our staff members was playing. They were down 3-0 in the first period but relentless support from the boys got into the heads of the opposing team, leading to a great comeback win. Some of the other boys went to play laser tag with the transition crew where it was suspected and hotly debated that the game was rigged.
Saturday morning we awoke to cook a large breakfast and, as usual, clean the house. We then hit the road for Prescott and an out of town AA meeting. The location turned out to be a nursing home and they were pumped up to see us. Some nearly jumped out of their wheelchairs while others almost had a heart attack. We all agreed we do not want to become crotchety old men someday. After the meeting we went for a nice five mile hike around the beautiful Watson Lake. We then headed home to cook burgers for the boys and play some games. What a day, what a way.
Sunday, we jumped out of bed to make pancakes, eggs, bacon and cinnamon rolls. Morale was high. We then went to an AA meeting here in Flagstaff before heading to the downtown climbing gym. The boys learned climbing technique and how to belay safely; good stuff. No one got hurt and smiles were everywhere. Next, we hit the gym to get some exercise and let out some energy via free weights and treadmills. Many of the boys relaxed in the hot tub while others displayed tenacious competitiveness on the volleyball court. Fun all around. Once again, we had burgers for the boys courtesy of Mama Burger here in Flagstaff. Hell of a weekend.
Love and miss you all,
The Boys
