Happy Thanksgiving Families!

What a great Thanksgiving we had! The family of a staff member rented an Airbnb for us here in Flagstaff at a real bachelor pad. There was a jacuzzi, pool table, ping pong table, soda and good food for days, plus darts. We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner and watched football all day long. Those Cowboys need work; what a pathetic display. It was great having them boys along with staff and former alumni all in one spot for the day. The only sore spot was a jigsaw puzzle that was insufferably unsolvable. We then came home to do an in-house AA meeting and put away all the leftovers. It was a great day.

On Friday the snow consistently fell all day. Them boys woke up to lots of shoveling of snow. Shoveling little snowflakes, big ol’ fat snowflakes, snow that came in from the side, snow that seemed to come up from underneath; we shoveled the lot that snow. Not just our snow either, the neighbors snow and the cul-de-sac. We then piled into the van to go shovel, get ready for it, more snow. Our newest outdoor staff member, Emily, sat in on a fiery session of End of Week Review before we were free to relax a little and enjoy Thanksgiving leftovers, hot coffee, and movies lounging on the couch because of being snowed in.

Saturday, we bundled up and went tubing at Flagstaff Snow Park at Fort Tuthill. They had black runs, red runs, teal runs, baby runs, medium runs, big runs, steep runs, runs for days. We found ourselves primarily at the steepest of runs where we linked up all seven residents and three staff in a classic snake formation down the run. After the tubing adventures we went to a local AA meeting chaired by our fellow resident brother now in transition. It was nice to support our buddy. We wrapped up Saturday with a community film before bed.

Sunday, them boys, flew out of bed to clean the house and what a cleaning we did. We then packed up and left for Sedona around 11 a.m. We hiked hangover trail for a while, scrambled up a mountain, socialized with some locals, and bonded with each other. We held Sharing is Caring atop a beautiful deep red rock formation with the beauty of the tan and red rock around us contrasting off the remaining snow on the mountains. It was a fantastic hike. We then head home where one of them boys told their life story to them resident boys and them tranny boys. It was deeply moving and helped us connect as a group. It was a fantastic weekend. Love you and miss you.

Sincerely,
Them Boys
