When we arrived at the trailhead of our backpack adventure, we snacked and set off to reach our destination eight miles in. The hike was a rough one which can come with its difficulties but ultimately feels like an amazing accomplishment. We love that we get to go to these beautiful places that are rarely visited.
We arrived at our base camp and set up. The steep walls of rock and pine trees complemented the clear stream running through the campground. Some of our residents found a cliff to jump off into the frigid water below. We hung out, fellowshipped, played cards, had A.A, and sipped hot cocoa around the campfire after the sun set.

After we were caught up on some sleep we backpacked to the vans and packed our gear. The group stopped at the natural bridge for a bonus hike. Underneath the bridge there was constant water flowing down like rain splashing off slick cave like rock. The water was crystal clear pooling up underneath the natural feature. We hiked through to a hole in the side of the rock where we squeezed through to get to a natural balcony. The rock formations were out of place and made this area a natural wonder. We stopped for some doughnuts on the drive back. No one spoke until the treats were gone enjoying every last bite. We got back home with another one of the earth’s beautiful places checked off the list.
