Dear Families,

This weekend was very special for both staff and clients. Friday included an extended, excessive cleaning of the house in preparation for families of certain clients arriving. Let me tell ya something, some of these boys are first ballot, hall of fame scrubbers and that’s no joke. No rubbish left behind; not here, not there, not anywhere. The families of certain clients then arrived for a meet and greet with staff and the boys. It was very enjoyable and rewarding to see some of the boys bonding with their parents and relatives. The boys and their families were then able to bond over dinner while the boys who did not have the joy of seeing their loved ones enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: an action movie and burgers for the boys.

Saturday the group followed a format similar to that of Friday, splitting into two groups via whose families were present. Clients and their families were able to take part in therapy sessions designed to heal family dynamics complicated by addiction. Most of the boys reported having a positive experience. Clients who did not have loved ones present had a splendid time at the Flagstaff climbing gym, followed by another round of movies and burgers for the boys. Two days in a row baby!

The weekend was rounded out by a hike in Sedona on Sunday morning. What a beautiful journey that turned out to be. The red rocks combined with the rolling nature of the landscape provided a great avenue for appreciating the wonder of the natural world. The boys then attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Sedona where we were well received by the locals. It was agreed that we would very much enjoy going back in the future. Love you and miss you,

-The Boys
