Our latest adventures as recounted by a client journalist:

Our week long trek to the Joshua Tree National Park. We left on Sunday morning (Veterans Day) in two vans for our trip to Joshua tree. This was an amazing trip because it was quite out of the ordinary. Joshua Tree National park is a unique place with some world-famous-rock-climbing and bouldering.

We spent the first three days in the dessert park learning how to belay, rock climb, and repel on the granite. Though we were all new to outdoor climbing, everyone faced their fears and found that once they trusted the equipment it was only a matter of focusing on one move at a time and applying the techniques we learned from Erick and T (our instructors from California Climbing School).

Not only was this a great trip for personal growth, we connected as a team by cheering each other on and trusting the person on the ground controlling the belay line.  We camped in the park the whole week and on the first night a coyote came to visit us in the middle of the night and let out a long howl in the middle of the campsite!  When we weren’t rock climbing, we were either back at camp working as a team to prepare some delicious meals or exploring some of the large rock formations in the park.

On our last day we explored a route through a boulder formation called the Chasm of Doom!  This venture included steep climbs, steep drops, chimneying, and extremely tight squeezes.  Though we were all scared entering the Chasm, we left with big smiles and with a great sense of accomplishment.  Overall this was an extremely enjoyable trip for everyone, we conquered fears and found a great appreciation for rock climbing techniques, knots, and belaying.
