Hey there B2B families, here’s a recap of our adventure this past weekend. It started off with a 7:00 A.M. wakeup. Packs were packed, food in the cooler, burritos being eaten and we were off. A short drive south down to picturesque Sedona, AZ. With some of the trees turning colors of oranges and reds, October is one of the best months to visit Sedona; weather is just right, temperatures are not too hot or cold, and tourists don’t overpopulate.

To secure a camp spot at Manzanita campgrounds, we drove directly there and claimed a spot. After we settled in, we packed our daypacks for the hike ahead of us. We drove about 20 minutes to Hangover trailhead. It was about an 8 mile hike around a spire where we ran into a few mountain bikers. The views from the top were simply stunning; you could see all of Sedona and beyond. We all crushed the hike, headed back to camp where we took a quick polar dip in the creek, played some cards, and relaxed. Our dinner consisted of grilling sausages, sautéing onions and peppers, and mixing everything together with Velveeta Mac n Cheese. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal and replenished our bodies for the hike to come the next day. A client shared his story during an A.A. meeting we held at the campsite shortly after dinner. What a rapid change since his first day at B2B. After, we hung around the campfire and rested up for the unexpected challenge to come the next day.

Sedona hiking young men7:30 A.M. wakeup came quick, we all ate yogurt and fresh fruit for the much needed energy required for the hike. We drove about 30 minutes to the trailhead of Bear Mountain. The map told us it was only 2.4 miles, a piece of cake! We all underestimated the difficulty of the hike. At one point, we had to use our hands to literally climb up some parts. There was at least 4 false summits and some clients crumbled mentally and physically; however, everyone overcame the pain and survived the 1500 feet of elevation. We all hiked down with ease, went to DQ after to celebrate with some blizzards, and then chilled at camp waiting for a client to join us.

After a quick siesta, next on the agenda was going to a historical Buddhist Stupa. It felt very mystical walking around the shrine and doing meditation. After getting spiritual, we went to an A.A. meeting to get sober. Once we got spiritual and sober, we concluded our day and drove back to camp; ate a quick dinner, played some spades, chalked it up around the campfire and had some skunks running around our camp scrambling for food. Another exciting B2B adventure in the books. Until next time, all of us here at B2B wish you a wonderful rest of the week.
