Hey B2B families, here’s a look at what we did last weekend. We started with a casual wake up around 7:00 A.M. and gathered our gear, packed up the van and headed to a Mens Stag meeting talking about the 10th step. After, we got some gym time playing basketball, swimming, and getting “swole.” Then, it was time to get on with our journey to West Clear Creek. We took the scenic route through Sedona which never gets old. There’s always a little traffic, but the formations of the red rocks kept us in amazement.

West Clear Creek

We parked the van at the trail head, unloaded, grabbed our dusty boots, and we were off. We hiked about 2 ½ miles to our campsite that was right next to a swimming hole. Some people swam and jumped off some rocks, while others relaxed, enjoying the warm breeze and joking around. We had our newest client join us on this trip, so we gathered around the firepit and discussed outdoor expectations and the policies of “Leave No Trace.” After, we ate dinner, played some cards and had a good nights rest preparing for the hike the next day.

hiking West Clear Creek7:30 A.M. wake-up! We all got our day packs ready, ate ‘mandatory oats’ and attempted to get to the top of a three-tiered peak that was across the creek. The first part was about 100 ft. of red cliff rock that we all managed. Then, it was high brush, cactus, and big boulders to traverse over.

Our newest client had an unfortunate collision with a cactus, but held his head high, brushed it off, and kept trudging along. Eventually, we made it to an area where it was all rocks and big boulders that broke off from the three-tiered peak that we were trying to get on top of.

Looking up from the campsite, the hike looked like a piece of cake, but in reality we were hiking up at least a 35% grade. One false step on a loose rock could make you tumble to a severe injury; everyone was very cautious and paid attention to every step. In the end, we all safely made it to the bottom of the first tier because we definitely had to climb and use ropes to get to the top.

We took a brief snack break, wrote in our journals, and slowly descended our way back down the boulders, cactus, and brush.

Once we got down back to camp, we all took a nice dip in the swimming hole and relaxed. After a peaceful siesta, we gathered around and did ‘sharing is caring’ about honesty. After a thorough talk, we had time to eat dinner, swimming, and just kick it at the camp. To conclude the day, we rock hopped across the creek to another fire pit and we conducted an A.A. meeting. A client shared his story and helped us gain some more insight from where he is coming from and why he is here. Next, we went back to our camp, played more cards and joked around before bedtime.

7:00 A.M. wake-up rolled around. We packed up, quick sweep around the camp, and hiked out. On our way back, we decided to take a detour and went to another swimming hole where we could jump off a rock that was about 30 ft. tall. We all jumped, chilled out, and hiked back to the van. Another safe, successful trip in the books. Until next weekend, thanks again for reading, hope you have a great rest of the week.
