Lovely Parents of the B2B Men,
What an amazing weekend we had! The group packed up early Saturday morning and headed south towards Tucson, AZ. After a 5 ½ hour drive filled with musical melodies, scintillating showtunes and brotherly banter, we arrived at Cochise stronghold. After arriving an audible was called, changing the trip from a backpacking trip to a base camping trip. The boys were ecstatic! We set up camp at the base of two mountains with grassy vegetation between the gigantic rock forms. After setting up our tents and unloading the vans, we came together to begin a rock climbing scramble called ‘Endless Journey’. The group was strong and cohesive in their ascent. Our scramble began up the first mountain where our camp was based. The route was over a mile long reaching each summit of the chain of mountains. There were caves and tunnels we were able to climb through. At the top of the tallest mountain in the chain we sat down in a circle and did a silent meditation. The view was breathtaking! We could see 50 miles in every direction, including Mexico. There were other sets of mountains in the distance and a beautiful sunset on the horizon. After the meditation, we hiked back down to our camp and enjoyed dinner. Unfortunately, some of the food was not put away and that night our camp was terrorized by a close relative of Pepé Le Pew. We took numerous lessons on proper camp etiquette from this experience.
Day 2: since we were 5 ½ hours away from Flagstaff, we decided to spend Sunday night at Picacho Peak which is in between Phoenix and Tucson, but not before sending a sick hike near the peak of Cochise stronghold. The boys split off into two groups: 1. The Big Senders Group and 2. The leisure hikers. The Big Senders challenged our skills and fear in the first ascent of what we dubbed ‘Bubba’s Gup Gup Jump’. It was a lightning bolt pattern that zig zagged up the face of granite. Our fearless leaders found a way all the way up to the top safely. Then led us down the other side to meet the leisurely hikers. We all hiked down together and held a sharing is caring group in a wash underneath desert oak with the topic on values. We got back to the vans, loaded up, gathered firewood and headed out on the just under two hour drive to Picacho Peak. We set up camp at a campground and feasted before holding our nightly meeting and a very in depth community group around a campfire. The boys exhausted from a day of thrills and fear of death slept gratefully.
Hugs and Kisses
Da Boyzzzz
