Dear Families,

This past weekend we were able to escape the cold and drive down to the Arizona Hot Springs. On our way down, we stopped by the Hoover Dam. After investigating the architectural masterpiece, we finished our drive and prepared for a short hike through the slot canyon towards the Colorado River. The scenery through the canyon felt otherworldly. Once we reached the Colorado River, we journaled and got pumped to venture into the Hot Springs. We all enjoyed our first warm water experience in months, and met some interesting hippie characters along the way. We came back to camp, held an AA meeting around the fire, and had a sound night sleep after a long day of adventure.

The following day, we woke up and decided to do a morning meditation based on healing of the throat chakra, which signifies communication skills. After this peaceful experience, we hiked back through the slot canyon to a ledge overlooking the Colorado where we shared our journals and held some good recovery related discussion. Once we returned back to camp, the rain began pouring down but that didn’t bring down our excitement to venture back into the Hot Springs. The next morning, we woke up to a brief pause in the rain, giving us just enough time to finish our hike out of the slot canyon before the downpour resumed. All in all, it was one of the most memorable trips and a much-needed break from the frigid weather of Flagstaff.

Until next time…
Resident C
