Our latest adventures, as recounted by a client journalist:
Dear Families,

This week we went to the unforgettable Buckskin Gulch. We had split groups which made it easy for the entire group to hike together as a team. It was really nice to give everyone a chance to share in the AA meetings and give staff the opportunity to focus on each individual and to help them out.

The first day we hiked 7 miles to the confluence of the Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch. We trudged through knee high mud, carried our packs over our heads through chest high water and scaled over the side of a boulder (luckily there was a rope placed there to assist us). The obstacles we encountered reminded us of a spartan race, this comparison was supported by our newest client LF who has completed a number of these endurance races.

The second day we hiked through the famous slot canyons in Buckskin Gulch. Through water tunnels, more thick mud and over slick rock. We returned to our campsite by 3pm and had some lunch.

We then packed up our gear and headed back out of Paria Canyon through more mud. We arrived to our beautiful cottonwood campsite later that afternoon and we held a sharing is caring group in a beautiful Southern Utah setting. It was a really nice evening in which we bonded through our shared experiences past and present. Although probably the muddiest trip yet it was a great trip for our group.

Until next week!
