Greetings families. This weekend we were set up for a group solo trip. This is where we would head for a base camp area and then break up into our own solo sites. We would all spend a day and a half in relative solitude working on therapeutic assignments and self reflection. Of course there were regular check-ins by our guides via a mailbox system (a piece of paper under a rock). So, we started early Sunday morning, heading out Woody Mtn. Rd 45min SE of Flagstaff. We ended up in an area along the Mogollon Rim known as the ‘Edge of the World’. This spot provided each of us with stunning vistas overlooking sections of Sedona and the Verde Valley. After an AA meeting with our new outdoor intern, the guides returned to the group and brought us out to our individual sites. For the next day and night we had warm sunny weather with a nice breeze. For once in a long while there was extended silence among the B2B ranks, a nice change of pace. Our guides got us up Tuesday morning and we all congregated at base camp for a delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs. We then all hiked down to a nice hidden spot under a limestone ledge where we held a silent meditation and our Sharing is Caring group to wrap up our solo experience.
