Our latest adventure as recounted by a client journalist:
Hello Friends and Families, This is client D from the 504 (New Orleans area..)!
This week we continued with our split groups and instead of going to Paria Canyon like last week we went to the Grand Canyon. I have never been to the Grand Canyon before and it was amazing, I never expected it to be home to so many different environments and adventures.

The next morning I woke up early to be covered in non-stinging caterpillars that where apparently falling out of the trees overnight which was pretty wild. I also got to see a deer come up really close to our campsite while everyone was still asleep which was awesome. For our day-hike we went to a place called Phantom Ranch located on the Northern side of the river(opposite of where we entered the canyon). On the way down we stopped at a waterfall where we were able to take a dip and when we continued on towards Phantom Ranch we all saw a pretty cool rattlesnake.
On our way back to Indian Gardens we stopped at the river and we were able to jump into the river and have sharing is caring. That night we prepared to go to sleep early so that we could get up and get ready for our hike back up the South Rim. On our final morning, we woke up and packed up quickly and got on our way up the South Rim. This leg of the hike was the most difficult because we were sore and there was a ton of elevation but we made it in just over 2 hours and ended up with a total mileage of 28.5mi over our stay in the Grand Canyon.
This trip was pretty incredible because I was able to share this awesome experience in the Grand Canyon with guys I’ve grown exceptionally close with over my stay here.
Thanks, Client D
