Hello B2B families,
This weekend we went camping at the Romero Pools in Tucson, Arizona. We drove down from Flagstaff Sunday morning and arrived in the afternoon. We had planned on backpacking an easy 3 miles to our camp site when we arrived but it turned out to be a much more challenging hike than anticipated. We seemed to be struggling for an hour or so to find an appropriate camping spot that we could all fit our tents in. We eventually found a pretty cool spot off the trail that was on both sides of the river. We set up camp there, ate dinner and played some cards.
Eventually we held an AA meeting where we had an introduction circle for the newest member of our community, and the topic of discussion was “where we thought we would be if we didn’t come to B2B, what has B2B helped you with and where do you see yourself after B2B”. We all got to bed shortly after the meeting because we could not have a fire in this area due to fire hazards and it was pretty cold that night. Monday morning we had breakfast and purified some water to prepare ourselves for the day. We went on a short hike to some of the pools close to our camp site that had some cool waterfalls.
While there some of us did some polar plunges in the freezing cold water. After this we wrote in our journals on the topic of looking back at situations that should have kept us sober but did not. We hiked back to our camp site and when we got back we all shared on what we just wrote about. We then packed up all our gear again and hiked back to the van so we didn’t have to wake up at 5AM the following morning. When we got to the van we drove to a near campsite in the area and reset up our camp site. We played some more cards together and held a meditation meeting to end the night. Monday night was especially cold for Tuscon and we all woke up with all of our belongings covered in thick frost. We got our things packed up quick because we were all frozen and were able to leave pretty early, getting back to Flagstaff around 1PM.
Until Next time,
Resident D
